Behaviour Assessment for Reactive Dogs
Service Description
The Reactive Behaviour Assessment is a mandatory first step before booking any further training services for dogs experiencing reactive behaviours. This 30-minute one-on-one session allows us to get to know you and your dog, understand the challenges you are facing, and develop a personalised training plan tailored to your dog's individual needs. During the assessment, we will discuss your dog's behavioural history, triggers, current challenges, and your goals for the future. We will explore what you hope to achieve with your dog, whether that is improving everyday life, increasing confidence, reducing reactivity, building better communication, or helping your dog safely navigate real-world environments. We will assess your dog's temperament, emotional responses, thresholds, communication signals, and current coping strategies. We will also evaluate the relationship and communication between you and your dog to better understand where support and guidance are needed. Throughout the training journey, there may be a stage where sessions are conducted without the owner present. This is an important part of the process, as it allows us to better understand your dog's core behaviour, natural responses, and individual temperament without the influence of the handler's presence. This helps us identify which behaviours are natural to the dog and which may be influenced by the relationship, communication, or dynamics between the dog and owner. This session provides the foundation for a structured training approach focused on helping your dog develop confidence, resilience, and appropriate responses to their environment. Based on the assessment, we will recommend the most suitable training plan and provide guidance on the next steps to help you and your dog progress safely and effectively. **Please note:** The Reactive Behaviour Assessment is required for all new clients with reactive dogs before any additional training sessions can be booked.
